Mirella has been committed to the environment for several years. She is now known beyond the city limits for her commitment.

Vera, a young, attractive shipbuilding engineer, has both feet on the ground. She is independent, energetic and self-reliant and is bringing up her daughter Taddi on her own. A long-cherished professional dream also comes true: Vera is to work in Shanghai for the next few years.

Kostja, the German-Russian, and Beatrice, the German-African, have a big argument at night. Beatrice leaves the apartment and leaves Kostja behind with the baby, reinventing herself as an architect and psychologist, as an actress and screenwriter, while Kostja, the bicycle messenger, tries in vain to find somewhere to put his child. At some point he loses it. All three experience their odyssey through a Berlin summer day.

The mining industry, which always had been “sponsor” and “financier” of the soccer clubs in the Ruhr valley during the post-war period, doesn’t exist anymore nowadays in that form. Many of the once glorious clubs which dominated German soccer until the 1970s faded into obscurity without financial backers.The documentary “Im Westen ging die Sonne auf" ("The sun had risen in the west“) shows the history of the “Revierfußball” from after the second World War until the decline of the mining industry and recalls legendary players and forgotten clubs. The film shows especially how deeply rooted the sport was back then in the entire lifestyle of the Ruhr area - in private life as well as in society - and how structural change also left clearly visible marks in sports. With pictures from back then, interviews with contemporary witnesses, and footage of original locations nowadays, a contemporary document of German post-war history, by taking the example of soccer, has been created.

Istanbul contractor Hakan Demirkan is found murdered in his summer house, next to a voodoo doll. Commissioner Mehmet Özakin and assistant Mustafa first examine threats against Demirkan on account of his firm's controversially drastic development projects in the old neighborhood Tarlabasi. He had an adulterous affair with the shortly after murdered opposition lawyer's girlfriend, Yasemin Gül. Demirkan's wife Hanife, politically ambitious son Züli and business partner Cihan Baysal, a speculator, hide more secrets. A crippled ex-cop now detective's son, an (ex-?)junkie, is also involved.
